Winter Cycling – The ins and outs of cycling safely in winter conditions, what gear is best, and how to retrofit your bicycle.

Commuter Cycling – Tips and guidelines for safe and efficient city cycling.

Basic Bike Maintenance – What you need to know to keep your bike operating smoothly.

Transportation and Climate Change – How do our transportation options impact the climate, and what can we do about it?

Transportation Issues and Impacts – Explores the social, environmental and economic impact of the car on our society.

Car Culture and Media Literacy – Defines car culture and looks at the ways that it is perpetuated in music, television, movies and print media.

Events

Clean Air Day
On June 2nd, 2010, students and teachers at Manitoba high schools will be participating in Clean Air Day by using sustainable transportation to travel to school. Groups will also be celebrating Clean Air Day by organizing presentations, workshops, screening documentaries and other sustainable transportation awareness raising activities. If you would like assistance with organizing an event at your school, please contact the MSTN Coordinator.

The 2010 Manitoba High School Commuter Challenge
From September 20th – 24th high schools in Manitoba will be participating in the 2010 Manitoba High School Commuter Challenge. It’s a great opportunity to promote sustainable transportation issues at your school and there is a chance to win special prizes for the school with the highest participation rate. September 20th - 24th, 2010

The Campus Commuter Challenge is an annual sustainable transportation event designed to showcase, reward, and hopefully increase the commitment of the students and staff of Manitoba’s post-secondary institutions to using methods other than single-passenger motor vehicles to get to and from school.

Car Free Day
On Wednesday, September 22nd, Winnipeg will join thousands of cities all over the world participating in Car Free Day by closing part of our territory to car traffic for the day. The day included workshops on cycling and sustainable transportation, contests and prizes, car free films, delicious local and organic food, and an enthusiastic pick-up game of street hockey!

Youth Conferences on Climate Change
MSTN and Climate Change Connection will be hosting 4 youth conferences on Climate Change in the 2010/2011 school year in Manitoba. The conferences will feature speakers on climate change, sustainable transportation and consumerism, and will involve students in activities, group discussions and skill sharing.
